Magnolia Place of Roswell | Community giving back momentMagnolia Place of Roswell, a personal care and memory care community located at 655 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA, recently helped a local boy feel appreciated on his birthday.

Austin has autism. He has experienced bullying at school and has been disappointed and hurt when no one showed up to celebrate his birthday in the past. This year, his family reached out for public support for Austin in the form of birthday cards to let him know others were thinking of him.

Residents and staff at Magnolia Place of Roswell were moved by Austin’s story and wanted to find a way to make him feel extra special. They came together to deliver a little bit of joy on Austin’s ninth birthday, September 14, 2022.

“We went up to visit Austin at his home for his birthday. We brought him a big yard sign, a birthday cake, and over 65 birthday cards with well-wishes from our residents!,” shares Shalya Collier, Sales Market Specialist.

“We were so pleased to have the opportunity to help make Austin’s birthday one to remember. We wanted him to know that we care about him,” she says.

The Birthday Week Festivities

Magnolia Place of Roswel | RayOn Monday, May 16, 2022, community staff and Ray visited the Georgia Aquarium for the dolphin encounter. The dolphin slid out of the pool so that Ray could pet and feed it! Aquarium staff also assisted Ray with going through some of the dolphin’s training moves.

Ask them to share their stories.

In honor of International Women’s Day on Tuesday, March 8, Pegasus Senior Living would like to share a few stories from some of the incredible women who call our communities work or home.

They inspire us all to lift up and support the women in our lives today by expressing how important they are to us and learning from their experiences. We celebrate all the women who make Pegasus Senior Living warm, inviting, and interesting and we’re proud to honor just a few of their stories.

Mary Ann Foster, Resident at The Gardens at Marysville, Marysville, WA

Pegasus Senior Living | Resident, MaryAnn FosterMary Ann was born in the Bronx, New York in 1936. She lived the greater part of her life in New York. After finishing high school Mary Ann went to college and graduated with a degree in Education in 1959. She became a fourth-grade teacher at an elementary school in Long Island. She married the love of her life in 1960. Mary Ann taught the fourth grade for a couple of years before having her first child. She decided to become a stay-at-home mom for the next ten years. After her children were old enough, Mary Ann decided to return to teaching. This time she ended up in the reading department, where she helped children with reading disabilities. She loved to be able to help children. The most rewarding and satisfying part of her job was knowing that she had helped them learn to read and the smiles it brought to their faces. Mary Ann stayed in the reading department for 15 years. After the passing of her husband, Mary Ann decided to move from Long Island to Washington state where two of her sons live. Now, Mary Ann resides at The Gardens of Marysville, where she loves to socialize and participate in activities.

Crystal Manjarrez, Lead Med Tech at The Gardens at Marysville, Marysville, WA

Crystal loves to bake and make all kinds of goodies. Her proudest accomplishment is owning her own company, Crysi Cake Scene. Check her out on Instagram @crysi_cake15. She is a single mom, works two jobs, and is one of our lead Med Techs! We are so blessed to have her.

Pegasus Senior Living | Resident, ZelZeltha Tabbut, Resident at Gig Harbor Court, Gig Harbor, WA

Zeltha was born in 1931 at Harborview Hospital in Seattle and is the oldest of three children. She and her two younger brothers Tommy and Jimmy went to schools throughout the Rainier Valley in the Seattle area. Life was difficult and it was hard to scrape two dimes together but Zel’s family was fortunate enough to get a contract to paint the lanterns on Seattle’s brand-new floating bridge. This was a big deal; it helped her family make ends meet.

Zel was active in school and at one point was asked to anchor a radio program for teenagers at KVI in Seattle. The program served teenagers and took questions from callers. She loved that experience.

One day in her high school choir music class, Zel’s friend asked if she knew who Bill Tabbut was. At the time Zel did not, but soon Bill called to ask Zel out with friends and they were never far from one another after that. Zel and Bill married and had three children, whom she loves to boast about because they are all very highly successful and living full and happy lives.

Zel’s philosophy is, “if you see a need, you can be the solution.” She worked in the airline industry and has so many stories to tell. One of her most important professional accomplishments was helping organize a system to bring babies from Asian countries here to the United States. These babies were children of our military members, and their lives were in peril if they were to stay overseas. Zel recruited women, who needed to be fully vaccinated and bi-lingual, if possible, to take these babies as they came off the plane at the Seattle airport. When beginning the process, she thought that it was going to be difficult to get enough women who had those qualifications to take on the task. But because Seattle is such a diverse community, it was easy to find the women, and the babies were taken care of. The infants were assigned to one of the ladies, they would take them, bathe them, place them in new fresh clothes and prepare them for life in the U.S.

Another professional accomplishment was the creation of the Military Lounge at the airport. Zel saw a problem and fought for a solution. Our military personnel would arrive at the airport and would have to stack all of their belongings on the floor and wait for their connecting flights. At the time there was a problem with thieves stealing the soldiers’ possessions. Zel was able to get the backing and support to secure an area for our military men and women to spend their time safely, with a place to rest their heads, get something to eat or drink, and relax for a while. The Military Lounge still exists today.

Pegasus Senior Living | Resident, DebraDevra Zinn, Resident at The Courtyards at Mountain View, Denver, CO

Devra Zinn is a 71-year-old resident here at The Courtyards of Mountain View in Denver, CO. She has made a huge contribution to America’s first responders even if she is humble enough not to want the credit she is due. Devra started out as an art teacher in Denver but said she did not feel it was her calling. From there she moved to California and trained as a psychiatrist. Devra then spent several years in Israel. While there she learned to debrief victims of crisis and the first responders that witnessed it. This is an important process to facilitate healing, so the trauma does not affect their home life and loved ones. At that time this was not something that was done in the United States. She then became a mobile crisis worker in New York City. Her proudest moment was getting a call from Rudy Giuliani himself to ask for her and her team to debrief the first responders of 9/11. Devra does not like getting praise for her work but supporting our first responders is an important job.

Yvonne Wilson, Resident at Town Village of Leawood, Leawood, KS

Yvonne was born in Southern California and is 90 years old. Her first husband Glenn was in the military (Army) and while she was with him, she worked for a telephone company. At one point she relocated to Germany to be with him. She had to learn German quickly to get by because not many people spoke English. His family was very insistent on them having children, but unfortunately, this wouldn’t be the case. She had several miscarriages and the strain it caused led to their divorce.

After this, Yvonne went to work as a secretary for the Autonetics Division of North America. This is where Yvonne met Jim who would eventually become her third husband. Jim was an engineer for Autonetics and she worked for him as well as 14 other engineers. Their chemistry was undeniable as she would say, but Jim was married at this time. During her employment with Atonetics, she became an engineer herself, quickly picking up what the others were doing.

She was the only female in this unit and took great pride in this. Eventually, their team was laid off and this sent all of them on their separate paths in life looking for new work. She met a gentleman named Gavin who would become her second husband. They had a daughter together and moved to St. Louis due to Gavin being in the military. Gavin worked for Emerson Electrics and sold military weapons to governments around the world.

While with Gavin she learned about and began to practice Wicca. She and her husband published over 20 books talking about Wicca. After Gavin passed away, Yvonne reconnected with Jim who used to work with Yvonne at Autonetics. His wife passed away in 2020 and he still thought about Yvonne. He looked her up and asked her to come to Leawood, Kansas and live with him, to be married. Yvonne of course said yes, as she always loved Jim. This was in March of 2020, and they both tied the knot at Town Village of Leawood. She says she is, “a blessed woman, and couldn’t be happier.”

Her proudest accomplishment was finding the Wiccan way of life and writing books on this topic. Her greatest personal accomplishment was her daughter.

Pegasus Senior Living | Resident, ElaineElaine Morey, Resident at The Rivers at Puyallup, Puyallup, WA

Elaine was born on April 12, 1922, at the U.S. Naval Base in San Diego, California. Elaine is the youngest of three children, with one brother and one sister. Elaine’s father was a logger, and her mother was a stay-at-home mom. Elaine’s father moved the family to different locations for work and at the age of three, the family moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon where Elaine grew up.

In high school, Elaine had a major crush on a boy named Marcus Shelby. She was drawn to Marcus because he had whiskers and had to shave, but Marcus never knew Elaine had a crush on him.

Elaine graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1939. After graduation, she took two different courses from Boise Junior and U.W. of WA, one on how to make clothing patterns and the second was on real estate. Elaine felt that making patterns was not simple, but real estate was wonderful.

At the age of 20, she met a young man in the Navy and they eloped in Nevada. In three years, Elaine had two children then divorced her first husband. Elaine was not done with love and during the war, she met a Marine named Joe. He swept her off her feet! Family and friends were concerned and said it wouldn’t last, but Joe and Elaine had one child together.

During all this time Elaine worked for “Ma Bell”, a lumber mill on the telephone line, and in various office jobs. She also continued in real estate. Elaine and Joe then went to work at a dry cleaner to learn the business. They did this for a year and then the couple ventured to Oakridge, Oregon where they opened a dry-cleaning business and operated it for six years.

One day, Joe and Elaine decided to go on a road trip and traveled through Auburn, WA. They both loved the little city and decided to move there. Joe and Elaine were married for 48 years.

Following this marriage, Elaine traveled to Texas as a single woman for another six years. Upon Elaine’s return, she stayed with her grandson for a short time until she found her own place near Puyallup. Elaine was very active at the senior center in Puyallup, WA, and kept herself busy enjoying life!

Then one fine day, Elaine was introduced by a friend to a gentleman named George. To her surprise, Elaine and George had lived in the same neighborhood within one block of each other!

They got married at the Presbyterian Church in Puyallup, WA. The wedding was amazing and enjoyed immensely by all who attended. Elaine and George were happily married for six wonderful years before George passed away in 2014.

Elaine has had such a wonderful life with so much love and adventure! Some additional interesting facts about Elaine are that she was in real estate until she was 66 years old. In her late 30’s Elaine belonged to the Shriners and traveled all of the U.S. as an Egyptian ballet dancer. Elaine also worked many odd jobs, but she liked working for Ma Bell the very most.

Elaine is now an incredibly valued resident here at the Rivers at Puyallup with many great friends, both staff members and residents alike. She enjoys playing pinochle, exercise class, and remains 100% a go-getter. The most incredible part of this story is that Elaine will be turning 100 years old in April of this year.

Pegasus Senior Living | Resident, MaudellMaudell was born in Kansas City in 1924. Throughout her life, Maudell’s had a passion for dancing – tap, ballet, you name it. After two years on the road, she hung up her dancing shoes and got married at 22.

When her daughters started school Maudell began modeling part time, then began working as an assistant in cosmetics. After six years she began working as a receptionist at Hallmark Cards where she enjoyed being the first impression for the company and shared, “I had the best seat in the house.” Maudell retired after 18 years. Then one day she was offered a part-time receptionist position at the Greater KC Community Foundation. She retired again, then decided she was ready to work again and started another receptionist position at FDAH & Wyeth. As Maudell puts it, “I guess you could say I ‘flunked’ retirement again.”

Maudell enjoys working and interacting with people from all walks of life. She speaks confidently when she says that she may be the oldest employee at FDAH & Wyeth, but she’s also the most fortunate because she still enjoys what she does every day. Maudell shares, “My cup remains half full. I try to bring and spread a positive attitude when I come to work.” Maudell also enjoys monthly lunches with 12 women that she went to high school with.

The Perfect Recipes for Your Holiday Meals

The holidays are great for putting on your best apron and making a mess out of the kitchen. It’s also the perfect time to pause diets and break out the tried-and-true recipes that have been passed down for generations.

At Pegasus Senior Living communities, some of our home chefs thought it would be a great idea to share some of their favorite holiday dishes. From sweet to savory and sides to mains, our residents’ recipes are delicious, and they are incredibly talented. We thank them for taking the time to share the secrets from their holiday cookbooks.

Author, economist, and activist Winona LaDuke put it this way, “Food has a culture. It has a history. It has a story. It has relationships.

Pegasus Senior Living is proud to introduce the history, culture, stories, and relationships that are a part of making our communities an enriching and engaging experience.

These are only a sampling of our talented residents’ many recipes for us. Follow us on Facebook to find out when the cookbook comes out.

Family Secrets

Joe, a Town Village Crossing resident, gave us his grandmother’s 100-year-old recipe to kick off our recipes for the holiday season.

This recipe features the note, “Cook slow. Don’t cook hard. That is all, Mama.” Joe’s ingredient list withholds a little of the family secret, so you’ll have to use your best judgment on the vanilla. Just remember, a little goes a long way.

Rustic and full of love, this is Joe’s grandmother’s Pecan Pie recipe.

Mae Taylor’s Pecan Pie

Ingredients:

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecan
  • 1 cup white Karo Syrup
  • Dash of vanilla extract (secret amount)

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a pie pan.
  3. Cook slow. Don’t cook hard. That is all, Mama.

The Main Attraction

We’d like to tip our chef hat to Edna, a fellow Town Village Crossing resident. Edna gave us a lot of recipes and is a true culinary master. Edna is sure to change your mind about fruitcake when the cookbook comes out.

We wanted to include Edna’s recipe for Chicken Spaghetti. It’s a casserole, but the love involved in the baking dish is something else.

Chicken Spaghetti

Ingredients:

  • 1 package spaghetti
  • 1 cooked chicken
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • 8 ounces of grated cheese
  • ½ cup diced celery
  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil

Directions:

  1. Boil the chicken for a few minutes, then turn heat to medium-low and simmer for a good 30-45 minutes. Allow to cool and pick off the bone.
  2. Cook spaghetti in the chicken stock until fork tender (not all the way; we’re cooking it twice).
  3. Reserve 1 cup of chicken broth.
  4. Sweat onion and celery until tender in butter or oil.
  5. Add soup and 1 cup of chicken stock—Cook for 5 more minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  7. Add cheese and milk.
  8. Mix all the ingredients in a casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes.

A Side From the South

Our cookbook includes a lot of the things everyone loves at the holidays: side dishes! In addition to a healthy amount of sweet potato recipes, we’ll give you a taste of a little recipe from down in Georgia.

Yellow Rice and Corn Casserole will brighten up your dinner table and keep guests coming back for more. Thank you, Mary of Historic Roswell Place, for this blessing.

Yellow Rice and Corn Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 (5-ounce) packet yellow rice mix
  • 2 (10-ounce) cans of Mexicorn
  • 1 stick of melted butter or margarine
  • 1 can of cream of celery soup
  • 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese
  • ⅓ cup of milk
  • Pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Cook rice according to package directions.
  2. Mix rice, corn, butter, soup, cheese, and pepper.
  3. Add milk a little at a time. Enough to make it soupy.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Snacks You Won’t Forget

When you’re throwing a holiday party, snacks are a must. Don’t just give your guests something to hold on to while making conversation; make the snack the conversation.

Gig Harbor Court resident Cindy certainly gave us something to talk about with her recipe for Pickled Pumpkin. You can pickle just about anything, but pumpkin is a next-level culinary creation.

Pickled Pumpkin

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups pumpkin, diced
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • 8-10 tablespoons vinegar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 6 cloves
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Directions:

  1. Pour vinegar into a large saucepan. Add water, vinegar, and diced pumpkin.

*If you prefer a crunchier texture, let pumpkin soak in water and vinegar between 2 hours to overnight in the fridge.

    1. Add sugar, cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon stick and bring to a boil. Boil for 20-30 minutes or until soft.
    2. Transfer the pumpkin into sterilized jars and pour the liquid over. Add one clove to each jar for a more robust flavor. Seal with lids immediately.

Something To Sip

Edna, we have to take our hats off to you for this one again. Spiced tea, sometimes called friendship tea or Russian tea, can be a holiday staple. You may easily gift it in a mason jar with a pretty bow. It warms hearts and bellies at the same time.

Spiced tea includes Tang. If you’re too young to remember the orange space drink, do a little research.

Spiced Tea

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup instant tea with lemon
  • 2 cups Tang
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves

Directions:

  1. Combine instant tea, Tang mix, and spices in a bowl, plastic bag, or container.
  2. Pour the spiced tea mix into a blender or food processor and blend until the tea mix becomes a fine powder.
  3. Mix 2-3 teaspoons of the spiced tea mix into 8 ounces of boiling water.

To celebrate Veterans Day and honor the service members who call Pegasus Senior Living communities home, we proudly introduce our communities’ veterans.

Pegasus Senior Living | Frank CAt 96-years-young we’d first like to introduce Frank. He served in the United States Air Force during WWII and continued his service in the Air Force Reserves for 42 years. We’d like to applaud Fran, his wife of over 70 years. Together they brighten up The Landing at Queensbury.

When we asked Frank if there was anything he would tell his younger self if he could, he drew a big smile on his face and said, “To do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing. Especially marrying my beautiful wife.”

Veteran Team Members

Our residents aren’t the only veterans in the Pegasus Senior Living family. We salute team members who transferred their time in the service to enrich our communities.

Creston Village Health and Wellness Director Sherry McCormick joined the United States Army Reserve at 17.

Pegasus Senior Living | Sherry McCormick“I was fortunate enough to receive both EMT and nursing training through the Army,” she says.

McCormick spent most of her military career on active duty at Fort Sam Houston, Fort Lewis, Fort Leavenworth, and Madigan Army Hospital at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Pegasus Senior Living | Sherry McCormick“One piece of advice I would give is to choose your career in the armed forces wisely,” says McCormick. “Choose a path you want. This advice was given to me prior to my enlistment, and it has served me well.”

Memories of Service

Pegasus Senior Living | Charlie DrakeMany Pegasus Senior Living communities include indoor and outdoor places to gather and trade tales. If you know anything about military service, you know it comes with many stories.

We learn so much about veteran residents from hearing the experiences they share with the community.

Charlie Drake served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1953-1956. He then served in the Marine Corps Reserves for another six years before marrying his lovely wife, Rita, 45 years ago.

When he thinks back on his time of service, Charlie enthusiastically replies,

“Staying in the Marines was one of the best things I’ve ever done!”

Here are a few of our favorite memories of service:

A Hero’s Story

In February of 1945, a twenty-year-old Karl Appel was two years into his service with the 3rd Marine Division of the United States Marine Corps in Iwo Jima, Japan.

Pegasus Senior Living | Karl AKarl ran across an open field to take cover in a foxhole while enemy forces fired from above. A bullet narrowly missed the left side of his head but traveled down his leg, striking his ankle and heel.

With the adrenaline pumping through his body and unaware of the bullet wound, he jumped feet first into a fox hole.

Down in the hole, he suddenly felt as if a baseball bat struck his leg. He reached into his ruck with intense pain and took out Sulfa powder and gauze to dress his wound. While bullets continue to reign down, he covers the bright white gauze in camouflage netting so as not to be an easy target for opposing forces to spot.

Pegasus Senior Living | Karl AppelTargeted bullets would fall with every scoop of his shovel into the volcanic ash as he dug deeper and deeper into the foxhole.

Eventually found by a corpsman, Karl is ordered to attempt to get to safety. Crawling from foxhole to foxhole while dodging gunfire, he makes it to an aid station.

He is quickly rushed onto an amphibious tank with fellow wounded soldiers. Hand in hand, they support each other on the ride to a naval ship awaiting them.

Pegasus Senior Living | Karl AKarl describes his gunshot as a “million-dollar wound.” It was severe enough to take him out of combat and send him back home. He spent about a year in Guam before returning home, where the military awarded him a Purple Heart for his service in the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Karl now calls Creston Village in Paso Robles, CA, home. Thank you for your service, Karl.

We want to celebrate and acknowledge the inspirational and unique individuals who call a Pegasus community their home.

Pegasus values our residents’ and their families’ intriguing life stories. Sharing each other’s lives within and among our communities encourages socialization between residents. It also allows our associates to get to know each resident personally, which lets us provide even more individualized care.

Celebrating Our Stories

For Labor Day, we celebrated our associates who have worked in our communities for 10 years or more.

We’d also like to highlight a few of the many residents who have had rewarding, lifelong careers; below are a few of their stories. We’d love to honor your milestones and celebrate your achievements, too. Learn more about becoming a resident at Pegasus Senior Living communities.

Bill Todd

Principal

Pegasus Senior Living | Bill Todd, Resident

Bill was the principal at Harmon Jr. and Sr. High School for seven years. He then went to Washington High School, where the district thought he had the skills to run a more diverse school. He chose education as his career because of his upbringing and his teachers. His dad was a “loving dictator” and his teachers were “exceptional.”

He wanted and did make a difference in children’s lives. For instance, one child who attended his school was once facing suspension two weeks before graduation. Bill investigated and concluded that he was overall a great student who just needed a break, so he made a deal with that student: he would get his diploma but could not walk across the stage.

Time and time again Bill says, “It is the people you surround yourself with that make you look good.” Another one of his popular sayings is, “Treat others like you want to be treated.” There’s one more: “Kids are human, too.”

Bill thinks working as a principal made him more understanding of other people and their differences. When asked what his biggest accomplishment in life is, he answers without blinking, “My children.”

Bill is a wonderful asset to our community. He is quick to praise and quicker to smile. We are lucky to have him in our lives.

Dr. Herb Rosen

Family Physician

Pegasus Senior Living | Dr. Herb Rosen, Resident

Dr. Rosen started his practice after school in Runnells, Iowa. It was a town of 150 people and the surrounding farms. The town started shrinking, so he started another practice in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked in both practices for many years. Dr. Rosen got the most satisfaction when he did diagnostics on his patients and got their diagnoses right. He charged three dollars for an office visit and one dollar for shots and blood work! When asked what the secret to his success is, Herb will say, “I had a great family life and an undying faith.”

Herb and his wife, Jeanette, raised four wonderful children. Herb says his marriage and family is his greatest accomplishment. He also has many, many hobbies and talents. He made furniture, kept a greenhouse, golfed, and enjoys painting.

As we talked and pried for answers about his success in life, he repeated the same answers: “Love what you do,“Life is good,” “Be patient,” and “Don’t hesitate to go to the doctor if things are not going right.”

His wish came true after going to two different food trade schools for training. He loved being of service to others.

Sam encourages people to work hard, do what they are supposed to do, and not be lazy. That’s how Sam got promoted from being a food service worker to a food service manager. He can tell a good cook from a not-so-good one, too!

Renee Fullerton

Social Worker

Renee has only been at The Courtyards since last month, yet she had so much to share about herself and some of the great opportunities she had during her career! She was a social worker for a company called Progresso Latino. Her position in the company was helping people from Latin countries find housing, jobs, and schooling. Overall, Renee’s purpose was to create social connections for people who were considered immigrants. This job gave her a place to offer something back to the community and connect with its members. Renee was given so much encouragement, and this was very appealing to her. Her experience with the company left her believing that the chance to improve others’ opportunities can offer great satisfaction.

Roger Stallmann

Engineer

Pegasus Senior Living | Roger Stallman, Resident

Roger was born in Chester, Illinois, a small farm town located south of St. Louis on the Mississippi River. He was raised on a farm where he grew up with no indoor plumbing or electricity during his early years. Electricity came in when he was three or four.

During his high school years, Roger studied advanced math and physics. He was a member of the National Honor Society. Roger attended Southern Illinois University, where he was a physics major and then later an electronics technology major.

He became a junior engineer at Sangamo Electric Company in Springfield, Illinois. His manager moved to Silicon Valley for a start-up, so Roger moved his family to San Jose. Following his years at the start-up job, he worked for some great companies including Memorex, Advanced Memory Systems, ROLM and Siemens. He spent the last 10 years of his career with IBM before retiring in 2020.

During all of these wonderful career years, he enjoyed all of his experiences! In his early years, he worked on electronic filters, modem development, and a punch-card reader. Later, he worked on computer development, storage devices and systems, as well as many other cutting-edge products. Throughout his career, Roger and his wife raised three sons. He enjoyed world travel during all of his working years, including some world cruises and several long coast-to-coast road trips with the kids. He spent time in Germany, France, England and other European countries. Roger worked in Japan and China, as well as most South American countries, too.

After retiring in 2020, Roger and his wife moved to Paso Robles, where they built a large house on five acres. They enjoyed their retirement home for years. As time passed, however, health reasons forced them to downsize and eventually move to Creston Village in 2017. They have enjoyed all of their time here since. Roger says that all of the staff and management have provided excellent help, activities and a great environment!
