The magnificent beauty of the Rocky Mountains isn’t just for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts; it’s also an ideal setting for a serene and secure retirement. This vast North American mountain range stretches down from Canada into several U.S. states, including much of Colorado. Ahhhh, take in that fresh air: Rocky Mountain assisted living offers a unique opportunity for seniors to embrace this beauty of nature in their daily lives.

The Courtyards at Mountain View is less than two hours away from Colorado’s stunning Rocky Mountain National Park and 10 minutes from the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. And that’s not all, because the surrounding area has other appealing recreational spaces like Expo Park, Southmoor Park, and CommonGround Golf Course.

Why Choose Rocky Mountain Assisted Living?

They are designed to provide seniors with personalized assistance while allowing them to maintain their independence, promote their health and well-being, and enjoy the great outdoors. The Three Lifestyle Options

Rocky Mountain assisted living communities can offer different styles of age-in-place retirement living, all at the same property:

Independent Living

Seniors in independent living generally need less care but have access to assistance when needed. These residents live in apartments that often include washers and dryers, and the cost of utilities is typically included in their monthly rent. For the most part, residents do not need help getting around or with their personal or medical needs.

Assisted Living

These residents receive individualized support services, like medication management, wellness monitoring, assistance with ADLs (activities of daily living), and personal assistance as needed.

Memory Care

Memory care communities are designed for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Specially trained caregivers provide round-the-clock personalized care. The Courtyards at Mountain View’s signature Connections program features data-based, dementia-supportive techniques that help the residents Connect, Move, and Learn.

The Same Benefits

All the residents in these multi-faceted communities have access to the same benefits, depending on the level of care they need. At The Courtyards at Mountain View, residents enjoy restaurant-quality, nutritious meals; weekly housekeeping, linen services, scheduled transportation, and the security of having a 24-hour emergency response team. How Teresa Hadley’s Homemade Rolls and Artistic Touch Improves Lives

Broadway Mesa Village | Life Enrichment Director Teresa wearing Minnie Mouse ears

Once upon a time, there was a remarkable woman named Teresa Hadley at Broadway Mesa Village, nestled in the heart of Mesa, Arizona. She held the title of Life Enrichment Director, a role she embraced with unwavering dedication for years. Broadway Mesa Village was not just an assisted living and memory care community but a place where seniors found their second home. Teresa is the magic behind it all.

How Decorating a Senior Living Apartment Simply Takes Care and Heart

Teresa is not your ordinary Life Enrichment Director; she is a true ‘celebration professional.’ Every holiday, birthday, event, or “just because” moment is transformed into an unforgettable experience under her capable hands. She is also a painter. Her passion for residents shines brightly in every stroke of her brush.

Among all the special occasions, birthdays are something truly extraordinary at Broadway Mesa Village. Teresa’s artistic talents shone here like nowhere else. Each resident’s door is transformed with a one-of-a-kind birthday painting created by Teresa herself. The anticipation among the residents is palpable as they wonder what their unique banner will look like each year. Teresa perfected the art of decorating a senior living apartment with love!

If you need proof of Teresa’s dedication, look no further than Broadway Mesa Village’s Facebook page. It is a testament to her commitment to bringing joy and happiness into the lives of her residents.

Decorating for Social Events, Too!

But Teresa’s creativity doesn’t stop at paintings. She uses her artistic talents during events to craft extraordinary experiences for the residents.

For a car show, Teresa painted unique rock trophies that would be awarded in categories like:

  • “Car most likely to impress your In-laws”
  • “Prom date car”
  • “Car you’d most likely ride through Arizona in”
  • “Car most likely to take on a midnight drive”

There were six coveted rock trophies and 13 unusual certificates up for grabs, all adorned with her artistic touch.

As you read this, you might wonder, “How can I meet Teresa and witness firsthand the transformation of seniors’ lives through her unique approach?” Well, it’s quite simple. We invite you to schedule a tour at Broadway Mesa Village. Meet Teresa, the maestro behind the scenes, and see how she brings a touch of magic every day to the lives of our beloved seniors.

A Heartwarming Message with Baked Goods

Let’s travel back to 2019 when Teresa shared a heartwarming story. In those early days of her adventure at Broadway Mesa Village, she wondered how she could make residents feel more at home.

She decided to bake homemade cinnamon rolls from scratch every first Friday of the month. The heavenly aroma that filled the building brought back cherished memories for many. Residents would say, “It smells just like when I’d come home from school, and my mother would be baking.”

These baking sessions became more than just a culinary delight; they became opportunities to forge special connections. Teresa would roll out the dough, sprinkle generous helpings of cinnamon and brown sugar, and roll it into delicious cinnamon rolls. As the rolls baked to a perfect golden brown, she would carefully place them on platters and deliver them to each apartment, ensuring every resident received fresh-baked goodness.

Once, when Teresa felt overwhelmed with her responsibilities, she wondered if the residents would miss her homemade rolls. That week, as one of their dear friends reached the end of her journey on this earth, Teresa had a profound encounter. She visited the friend when she was coherent but frail. The friend struggled to open her eyes but managed to ask Teresa, “What day is it?” With a gentle smile, Teresa replied, “It’s Friday.”

The friend’s eyes widened with a hint of excitement as she asked, “Teresa, did you bring me a roll?” In that simple request, the significance of Teresa’s efforts became crystal clear. Even in her final moments, the taste of those homemade rolls brought comfort and joy.

Teresa’s story reminds us that the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference in someone’s life. She and her team at Broadway Mesa Village are going above and beyond each day, embodying the spirit of care and compassion that defines the community.

So, if you ever doubt whether your efforts matter, remember Teresa and the joy she brings through her homemade rolls, paintings, and unwavering dedication. Keep giving of yourself, keep up the good work, and know that it indeed makes a world of difference. Broadway Mesa Village and Teresa Hadley are living proof of that.

Join Us!

Join us for a tour, and meet Teresa in person to experience the joy she brings. Broadway Mesa Village and Teresa Hadley are living proof that your contributions make a world of difference.

Day One: Dancing Like There’s No Tomorrow

On August 31, 2023, family, friends, residents, and team members gathered at Broadway Mesa Village to wish Vivian a happy birthday. The guests danced to live music, enjoyed special treats, and the guest of honor opened some of the 1,700+ birthday cards she had received.

Day Two: A Community Parade

Vivian’s senior birthday continued outdoors the next day with a parade and greetings from the City of Mesa Firefighters and local government officials. Sitting on a comfortable couch and wearing a rhinestone crown, she watched the parade and received her visitors with a smile. Vivian was presented with gift baskets, flowers, and one-on-one time with the local fire chief and police department representatives. She was thrilled to be the focus of attention that day and received plenty of compliments and hugs.

Day Three: A Motorcycle Ride

On September 2, Vivian was seen on her feet, waving to members of the Christian Motorcycle Association as they drove by Broadway Mesa Village’s entrance with their lights flashing. After the men and women participating in this procession parked, they greeted Vivian with hugs and a card. The group also prayed together and when that ended, the guest of honor asked for a motorcycle ride; she was given a helmet and helped onto the seat. Vivian was all smiles as her driver revved the engine and took her for a spin – she even mentioned her “helmet hair” afterward!

Christian Motorcycle Association wishes Vivian a Happy 105th

The Key to Vivian’s Longevity

Vivian’s journey began in 1918, and she has witnessed a century of countless changes and evolution. Friends and family gathered to honor this incredible woman, creating an unforgettable three-day senior birthday party. One cannot help but wonder what the secret to her longevity might be, though. Nurturing Seniors and Easing Families’ Concerns Through Expert Care and Support

When it comes to the delicate matter of senior care, the decision-making process can be fraught with uncertainty and emotional upheaval. Are you on a quest to find the perfect senior housing in Roswell, GA? Are you looking for a community that balances independence, personal care, and community?

Historic Roswell Place | Senior lady laughing on the sofa with her daughters
Monkey Business – stock.adobe.com

Roswell senior living communities, like Historic Roswell Place, are designed to provide older adults and their families the assurance they need at every level of care.

Why Choose a Senior Living Community?

Senior living communities are more than just a place for seniors to live. They are thriving environments where seniors can enjoy their golden years with peace of mind, knowing they have access to the care services they need, when they need them.

Unlike staying at home, these communities offer a variety of floor plans, amenities, and activities to cater to the unique needs and interests of each resident. Whether your loved one requires assisted living, memory care, or independent living, senior living communities provide an engaging and secure environment that promotes overall well-being.

Assisted Living: Independence with a Helping Hand

Assisted living communities offer a unique blend of independence and personal care. These communities provide seniors with the assistance they need with daily tasks, such as:

  • Medication management
  • Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Chef-prepared meals
  • Housekeeping and transportation services

Residents are free to pursue their interests and socialize with their peers. They don’t have to worry about daily hassles or being lonely. Assisted living provides a higher quality of life.

Memory Care: Specialized Support for Cognitive Health

Memory care is a specialized type of senior care offered by many senior living communities.

This type of care is specifically designed for seniors with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other cognitive impairments.

In addition to providing personal care, memory care services include therapeutic activities and environments designed to slow cognitive decline and improve quality of life.

Our Signature Connections Memory Care Program: A Unique Approach to Dementia Care

When it comes to dementia care, a one-size-fits-all approach is far from ideal. Each individual living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia has unique needs and experiences.

Recognizing this reality, Historic Roswell Place offers the signature Connections memory care program.

Dr. Sandra Petersen designed this approach to provide personalized, comprehensive care for residents while offering peace of mind to their families.

The Core of Connections: Person-Centered Care

At the heart of the Connections memory care program is a commitment to person-centered care. This means we focus on the individual first, not their memory loss.

We take the time to understand each resident’s life story, interests, needs, and abilities. This deep understanding allows us to tailor our care and activities to each individual, fostering a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and well-being.

Comforting Families, Engaging Residents

We understand dementia affects individuals and their loved ones. The Connections program provides comfort and assurance to families. We keep families involved in their loved one’s care and provide regular updates about their well-being.

We also offer resources and support groups to help families navigate the emotional and practical challenges of having a loved one with dementia.

Our residents engage in meaningful activities based on their personal interests and abilities. These activities are more than just pastimes. They are integral to our approach to slowing the progression of Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Engaging the body and mind can enhance cognitive function, improve mood, and maintain physical health.

Our community is secure but we also provide supervised outings. Residents do not feel like patients. They have the support to lead a fulfilling lifestyle.

The Importance of a Signature Program in Dementia Care

A signature program like Connections is essential in dementia care for several reasons. Firstly, it ensures consistency in the quality of care. Whether it’s daily routines, activities, or family communication, a structured program provides a standard that all staff members follow.

A signature program allows for specialization. With a program dedicated to memory care, team members can:

  • Develop expertise in dementia care techniques
  • Stay updated with the latest research
  • Provide the best possible care for residents

Our dementia care program signifies a commitment to excellence. It shows that the community is invested in providing high-quality memory care and continually seeks ways to improve.

The Connections memory care program at Historic Roswell Place exemplifies our commitment to person-centered, compassionate dementia care. We strive to ensure our residents live fulfilling lives while providing their families with the assurance they need.

The Assurance of Senior Living Communities in Roswell, GA

One of the primary concerns for seniors and their families is the uncertainty and worry about the future. What if our loved one falls and no one is around? What if they forget to take their medicine? Roswell senior living communities alleviate these fears by providing round-the-clock care and supervision.

Moreover, the average cost of senior living communities is often comparable to or even less than that of maintaining a home and hiring in-home care services.

The Genworth Cost of Care Survey reports the average cost of an assisted living facility in Roswell (Atlanta area) is $3,535 per month. The price tag for 44 hours of home care per week is $4,385 on top of all the other personal expenses.

With various retirement communities in Roswell, GA offering different levels of care, families have the flexibility to choose a community that fits their budget and meets their loved one’s needs.

A Community Near the Chattahoochee River

Historic Roswell Place, a premier assisted living and memory care community in Roswell, Georgia, nestles close to the scenic Chattahoochee River. This location not only offers beautiful views but also provides residents with ample opportunities to enjoy nature and outdoor activities.

Senior Housing in Roswell, GA: A Beacon of Assurance for Seniors and Families

Are you considering an assisted living care home for your loved one? Do you constantly fret over their well-being, particularly the risk of falls? It’s a common concern for many family members.

Assisted living care communities, like The Oaks at Inglewood in Stockton, CA, are expertly designed to minimize accidents and enhance accessibility. But what if your loved one is still living independently?

Let’s discuss practical tips and strategies to help you reorganize and adapt a senior’s home to reduce the risk of falls without compromising their comfort or independence.

We’ll delve into room-by-room suggestions, easy modifications, and lifestyle adjustments that can make a significant difference.

Additionally, we’ll give you a glimpse into life at The Oaks at Inglewood, where we prioritize residents’ well-being and freedom while offering a supportive environment.

Let’s explore how to create a more accommodating living space for your elderly loved ones, whether they’re at home or considering a move to an assisted living care community.

The Risk of Falls Among Seniors

Falls among older adults are far from uncommon. They occur with alarming frequency. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 36 million falls are reported annually among older adults.

Over one in four people 65 years or older fall each year. Fall risk increases with age and can seriously affect overall health and well-being.

Why Seniors Have a Higher Tendency to Tumble

As we age, our bodies naturally undergo certain physical and cognitive changes that can increase the likelihood of falls.

Reduced muscle strength and poor balance control can make stabilizing oneself and preventing a fall difficult. Vision loss, another common age-related change, can also contribute to an increased risk of falling, impairing an individual’s ability to navigate their environment without incident.

Many seniors take medications that can have side effects such as dizziness or drowsiness, further increasing the risk of falls. It’s essential to be aware of these potential risks and to take preventative measures to mitigate them.

The Impact of Falls on Seniors’ Health and Wellbeing

The impact of falls on seniors is far-reaching and includes:

  • Fractures
  • Spine and hip injuries
  • Head traumas

They can also have a significant psychological impact.

Fear of falling can lead to decreased activity levels and social isolation. Both scenarios negatively affect a senior’s quality of life. This fear can create a cycle where the less a person engages in physical activity, the weaker their muscles become, thus increasing their risk of falling.

Additionally, falls can lead to a loss of independence, causing feelings of anxiety and depression. This psychological impact can be just as damaging as physical injuries, if not more so.

Understanding the seriousness of falls in older adults is crucial. By implementing preventative measures, we can help seniors maintain their independence and enhance their quality of life.

How to Keep Seniors on Their Feet

Like Alzheimer’s and dementia, falls are not part of normal aging. Use these tips when providing home care for a loved one. Seniors who stay upright can avoid nursing homes and skilled nursing care facilities.

Reducing the risk is a collective effort. Following these tips help to encourage independence and significantly reduce accidents.

Clear Pathways

First and foremost, ensure there are clear pathways throughout the home. Start by eliminating clutter, loose rugs, or any obstacles that could potentially cause a trip-up. Not only will this make navigation easier, but it also reduces the likelihood of accidental bumps or falls.

Good Lighting

Good lighting is crucial in minimizing the risk of falls. Make sure all areas of the home are adequately lit, especially hallways, stairs, and entrances. Consider using nightlights in bedrooms and bathrooms to aid navigation during nighttime hours.

Non-Slip Surfaces

Use non-slip mats or rugs to prevent slips, particularly in areas prone to moisture, like the bathroom or kitchen. These can provide extra grip and stability, significantly reducing the risk of accidents.

Sturdy Furniture

Furniture arrangements can significantly influence mobility within the house. Arrange furniture in a way that provides clear walking paths and stability. Ensure chairs and tables are sturdy and within easy reach for support when needed.

Handrails and Grab Bars

Installing handrails on both sides of staircases and grab bars in bathrooms near the toilet, shower, and bathtub can offer additional support. These fixtures can go a long way in preventing falls and boosting confidence in movement.

Organized Belongings

Keeping frequently used items within easy reach can prevent overreaching or the need for step stools. Store sometimes used items in lower cabinets and drawers for easier access.

Declutter

A clutter-free space is more navigable and mobility friendly. Minimize unnecessary items in the living area to reduce obstacles and enhance the visibility of surroundings.

Proper Footwear

Encourage the senior in your life to wear well-fitting, non-slip footwear with good support. This tip applies both inside and outside the house. Proper footwear can drastically reduce the chances of slips and falls.

Secure Cords and Wires

Ensure cords and wires are tucked away securely to prevent them from becoming tripping hazards in high-traffic areas.

Regular Cleaning

A clean home is a happy place. Promptly clean up spills to avoid creating slippery surfaces. Regular cleaning and maintenance can help keep the environment hazard-free.

Medication Management

Organizing medications can help avoid confusion and reduce the risk of medication-related falls. Utilize pill organizers and adhere to dosing schedules to maintain consistency.

Regular Exercise

Encourage regular exercise that focuses on improving balance and strength. This practice can help seniors maintain their mobility and ultimately reduce the risk of falls.

Eye and Hearing Check-ups

Regular eye and hearing check-ups can enhance a senior’s awareness of their surroundings, reducing the chances of trips or falls due to sensory issues.

Home Modifications

If necessary, consider making home modifications such as installing ramps, widening doorways, or creating a bedroom on the main floor. These adjustments can accommodate physical limitations and improve accessibility.

Regular Check-ins

Stay connected and check in regularly. Falls can sometimes be indicative of underlying health issues. Regular communication can help identify and address any concerns early on.

How Assisted Living Communities Help Lower Fall Risk
